Prices for okoumé plywood on European sales markets have come under increasing pressure in the last few months. Suppliers are attributing this to several factors: firstly, demand was low on practically all sales markets and in all sales channels throughout the summer months and even after the end of the holiday period. Most of the blame for a certain amount of unrest in the okoumé plywood business is being put on various dumping offers from French and Italian suppliers. According to various suppliers and importers, in the last few weeks growing pressure from volumes appears to have been prompting these manufacturers to undercut by roughly 5% what have been largely stable market prices for quite some time.
