The Minister of Agriculture, Bruno Le Maire has delivered a speech at a press conference organized by the professional association France Bois Forêt, on the occasion of International Year of Forests.
“We are the third European country having a big forested area, but we have a wood industry in deficit of 5,4 milliards of euros in 2009, which is totally unacceptable”, has declared the minister. Moreover, the minister has made a comparison between Germany and France, the first one having an inferior forest surface. Despite of everything, Germany represents 600.000 employments in this area, 175.000 more than France.
The president of France Bois Forêt Association, Jean-Pierre Michel, has presented also the acts that will be taken for the media. Beginning with the 25th of April, several advertising spots, which will be broadcast on France Televisions channels. These spots will present a various utilities of forests.
