The French region Franche-Comté is met as an important forestry region. There are 3000 companies, which activate on fields as forestry exploitation, saw mills, wood constructions, furniture or woodworking. All these fields gather 13.000 employees. These high numbers made this industry the fifth industrial, regional employer.
Besides, Franche-Comté is a reference region for wood constructions; it is one of the first forestry regions, labeled PEFC, with 44% of forested surface labeled.
