The number of wooden houses built in France has doubled between 2000 and 2010. According to a study, the number of wooden houses should reach 22.000 in 2014.
In 2008, about 15.000 wooden houses were built in France, which represents a record despite the decline of the market after 2007 because of the financial crises. This growth is due to the French people’s desire to lead to a sustainable development. The author of the study, Bertrand Perri, has declared that French people “dream to become owners of an ecological house at the country”.
Besides, another element that promotes this type of construction is the law. Wood offers the qualities, which are in accordance with the new rules regarding the building’s thermic performance.
