On 29 of October, European manufacturers of wood panel have mobilized in order to call the public authorities’ attention to the difficulty of supplying.
In France, this mobilization action was a press conference, where lots of federations from the wood industry have joined. The purpose of this meeting was to analyze the actual situation, the causes that have lead to wood deficit and to propose an agreement in order to reach the economical and ecological optimization of using this precious resource.
This way, the Wood National Federation (35000 de employments and turnover 5 milliards euros), the Union of French industries for furniture (35000 de employments and 4, 5 milliards euros) and the Union of Wood Industries (15000 de employments and 3,5 milliards euros) have also joined this initiative.
The sawmills, especially the softwood saw mills are affected by the activity’s reduction, which creates damages in construction field. The often stops of production units has an impact over the furniture industry.
