A Belgian company had announced its plans of investing 150 millions euros in one unity of electric production beginning from wood wastes. The project has been given up because the company is in the middle of a legal procedure in Belgium.
The Belgian company Industrie du Bois Vielsam & Cie (IBV), that offers employments for 170 persons is in a legal procedure and it is waiting for a vote from its creditors at the end of august. In the last weeks, the press is talking about an investment of 150 millions euros made by IBV Company for Sardy-les-Epiry, Nièvre. The idea of this investment was the reproduction in Bourgogne of the concept developed in Belgium. This sawmill that was built more than 10 years ago took the decision, in 2006, to launch in green electricity. The sawmill is using wood peels and pieces of wood in order to supply a cogeneration unity, which produces heat and electricity at the same time. The heat is intended for drying of wood from the sawmill and for producing the pellets. IBV had the idea of installing a second project in Belgium. There was also found a land, but the permission of building and exploit energy was denied.
The company’s intentions were communicated through a press communicate that mentioned the full investment made by IBV for this project. But, after that, there were replies from the project manager who declared that “it was not IBV who will invest, but the shareholders who want to create another company that uses the experience of IBV. The contradictions don’t stop here because one of the shareholder declared that neither him or others shareholders will not invest in this project. “There were some communication errors”, declares Roland Jost, one of the shareholders. They are talking about some Belgian, French and British investors to whom identity is still unknown.
