Russia accepts to prolong the current customs duties on wood. It will not increase the taxes until January 1, 2011.
About this issue spoke the russian prime-minister, Vladimir Putin, in the press conference after the “Summit about Baltic Sea - 2010”. According to his statements, the Russian government is studying “the possibility of the future prolongation” and considers "the possibility of relevant decisions about the balance of transactions with birch and aspen wood".
“ We don’t want to cause damages. So, we will prolong the present low level of taxes and will continue the discussions about the finnish investments in this branch".
Putin also hope that, this dialogue will continue and the parts will take acceptabile solutions for both sides.
