WOODEX Lestehprodukzia: achieving the result

WOODEX/Lestehprodukzia: achieving the result

PRESS RELEASE:
The participants and visitors of the XI exhibition WOODEX/Lestehprodukzia 2009 became personally certain that gain of furniture and woodworking production was near at hand. The exhibition was held from December 1 till December 4 at IEC Crocus Expo (Moscow).
340 companies from twenty-three countries demonstrated the advanced technology, equipment and materials and a wide range of services for timber enterprises. Among the key results of their work are the concluded contracts and new relations with the clients from all regions of Russia. The show was attended by 18, 000 people which is 3, 000 more as compared to the last year. The exhibition area covered 22, 000 sq.m.
For the first time ever the exhibition largely presented the sector of primary conversion of raw wood (twenty-five companies). In combination with the furniture production equipment, secondary conversion and wooden house building it presents the full cycle of wood conversion.
The visitors were captured by the exposition comprising the full cycle of wood conversion and the highly topical programme of events. The exhibition featured traditional Day of Science, Day of Innovative Technology and for the first time this year – the Day of Bioenergetics.

DISPLAY
The project geography is extending
This year the exhibition was supported by EUMABOIS, the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers. The turnout of the largest national expositions counted sixty-eight companies from Germany and fifty-six from Italy increased twofold in comparison with the last year. The meticulous attention of the public was attracted by the stylish pavilions of Austrian, French, Spanish and for the first time this year Czech, Associations of Woodworking Equipment Manufacturers. The Russian manufacturers made a proper presentation of high-quality and competitive goods. Despite the total exhibition area reducing by 10% and some of the exhibitors failing to bring in their machinery the exhibition increased in the number of participants, the newcomers especially.

Fair, smart and hardworking
We are referring to machinery, of course. The model exterior, precision in movement, CNC intellect – the title of best machinery could be argued by the processing machine units from ALTENDORF, BIESSE, WEINIG, SCM, HOMAG, GRIGGIO, SPRINGER, FELDER and 200 more manufacturers and suppliers.
Company Wilhelm Altendorf GmbH & Co. KG demonstrated Altendorf F 45 ELMO IV and ELMO V CNC-controlled panel saws. Altendorf F1 sawing machine which represents the "one operator, one stove, one Altendorf F1” concept. An unprecedented freedom of action in processing of large sheet materials, flexible sawing settings, saving labor were available at the Wilhelm Altendorf GmbH & Co. KG stand, hall 2.
Concern Homag Group presented a new series of 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis spindles BMG 500 and BMG 400 supplied with patented DRIVE5C+interface. SORBTECH ensures maximum stability and absorbs practically all vibrations even during the toughest of machining operations, guaranteeing outstanding surface quality coupled with substantially reduced primary energy consumption.
For the first time at the exhibition Makron Engineering (Finland) demonstrated the compact machining center Powerlog used for massive wood channeling (shaped timber and round logs). Compact and ergonomic Powerlog requires minimal human involvement.
Company YUTA, the largest dealer of BIESSE in Eastern Europe, demonstrated a series of Biesse Rover B 4.40 machining centers.
KOIMPEX S.R.L. demonstrated the new generation machining centre units from the Italian manufacturer, company CMS. The processing machine Pro Evolution meant for production of window unit details was the key innovation by Cms Wood at the WOODEX exhibition. Pro Evolution converts a raw billet into finished component of a rectangular window without an operator’s interfering and with no need to readjust when re-sizing.
Company SAPEMINVEST for the first time in Russia demonstrated the high-quality grinding machinery from ?? Maschienenbau GmbH. The innovative and patented grinding machine Roba Tech can be used for flat and profile surface grinding. In comparison with the traditional machines the grinding surface is enlarged in dozens times.
TECHNOALYANS demonstrated the SFERA ROSSA machines (Italy) for small and medium productions manufacturing small consignments of goods and make-to-order furniture. It is a CNC-controlled gang mortiser RED 700 and automatic single edge-bander GO 10.
The Russian manufacturers keep in pace with their foreign colleagues.
Company BACAUT has submitted three new items which have no analogues in Russia. The automatic line of continuous jointing LBSA-002 is designed for manufacturing of wall beam elements and load-carrying structures for wooden houses. Application of LBSA-002 makes it possible to end joint the dimension parts sizing from 800 to 6000 mm into the infinite length. The operations are divided into the two successive processes - cutting "minitenons" and pressing, which contributes to rhythmic work. Two-component separate dosing injection of adhesives allows reducing glue consumption. The automatic installation of UNK 11 for prompt application of glue onto the lamellae surface during the manufacture of laminated veneer lumber was demonstrated too. The installation control system makes it possible to quickly and accurately regulate the dosing of components and lamellae feed speed. To make the process of fuel briquettes cross-cutting automated BACAUT has developed a continuous cutting machine SNR 001. SNR 001 allows trimming briquettes in accordance with specified size whereas the trimming operation is performed on the run of pressed mass continuously supplied from briquetter.
KIROVVNESHTORG introduced a specialized line for conversion of forest thinners (top diameter 120-220 mm) into the edged lumber, as well as through-feed machining line Thermo 125E designed for trimming lumber production of low-quality wood (top diameter 90-180 mm). A multifunctional machine Termit 320MF is popular with the constructors of wooden houses which can produce the following products depending on a spindle-mounted tool: round logs (classical and profiled), construction beams of various configurations, cant and square-sawn timber.
Company VACUUM PLUS demonstrated vacuum and convective drying chambers and wood thermo-treatment machines VACUUMTERM. The use of this equipment allows the woodworkers combining two technologies in one machine and improve the quality of products: lumber, timber, solid and laminated veneer lumber, furniture board and wood moldings.
This is only a smaller part of equipment that was displayed and tested at the exhibition. Every machine features some undeniable merits, but perhaps the most brilliant exhibit was a CNC-controlled machining center Format4 ProfitH20 demonstrated by FELDER GROUP. FELDER GROUP linked opening of its subsidiary in Russia to the release of a limited series of such centers decorated with Swarovski crystals. The sparkling crystals attract attention to Format4 ProfitH20 - like all company’s products it is made by highly professional staff with advanced technology applied. Quality control system Six-Sigma ensures the precise work of the center for many years.

The cutting edge quality
No matter how "advanced" the machine is, inattention to tool management could reduce to zero its technical perfection. Visitors of WOODEX had the opportunity to acquire high-quality machine tools and hand tools, clamping and control devices, technical means for the organization and tool maintenance.
The Centre of Sawing Instrument of JSC PK PILATEX (Moscow) offered the experts band saws and rotating saws, forged and assembled shell-milling cutters and many other things. The high-precision recalibrating equipment and advanced technology applied by the enterprise make it possible to produce the machinery in accordance with the customer’s technical enquiry and European standards.
Firm LEUCO (Germany) demonstrated precise chuck clamping tooling devices TRIBOS, SINO, PS 2000. Their advantages: particular accuracy of circular runout, minor rest unbalance and minor vibration. Usage of such devices extends the instrument life, improves the treatment class and provides the regimen of moderation for a spindle and a machine.
JSC VNIINSTRUMENT showcased environmentally friendly and ecology-saving wood conversion technology. Application of milling machines of various structures developed by the Institute provides considerable (twofold) energy consumption reduction, reduce the noise and vibration of wood harvesting, extend the spindle life. The company also demonstrated technology of natural wood and laminated wood surface moulding. Pressing provides plastic deformation of the surface layers. The ready products are durable, catch less moisture and are more fire-proof.
GAS PPH SP.Z.O.O suggested the furniture production and woodworking instrument produced in cooperation with the German company R.JANSEN.
INTERTRADE GMBH/STANKOMASHTORG demonstrated the saw blades WESEMA, drilling and milling instrument FISCH, KREEB, BSW.
KANEFUSA INSTRUMENTY showcased the high-quality industrial tools from Japan.
LETZ GMBH & Co. KG displayed the cutting tools for the woodworking and furniture industry, processing of plastics and composite materials.
All in all, forty companies introduced their instrument products at WOODEX.

Material is primary
The most popular question of customers when choosing furniture, construction or finishing “What is it made of?”. WOODEX/Lestehprodukzia offers the most advanced materials and processing technology to the market.
For the first time at the exhibition the Trade House GUSVAR introduced the innovation in the industry of wooden finishing materials – GUSVARBLOCK wood wall covering.
AVA Company, the first Russian company member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA), offered the high-quality sawn timber, dimension parts, furniture panels, parquet and other products of birch and aspen.
Blockboards, chip boards, fiberboards, MDF, plywood and veneer were available for ordering from a dozen of suppliers.

Why do we participate?
- WOODEX/Lestehprodukzia provided us with almost everything we expect from an exhibition. There were a lot of interested professionals with targeted questions on what Altendorf could offer them to boost production. We met the ultimate customers and new dealers. We work for the future. During the exhibition we have negotiated contracts and as long as it finishes we are going to issue invoices and assemble supplies from Germany. (Erna Fuhr, General Director of Altendorf (Moscow).
- Production material GUSVARBLOCK allows every manufacturer stepping out and escaping direct competition. During the exhibition almost all regions of Russia came to know about the development of our proprietary and a plethora of companies expressed desire to cooperate. There were a lot of fruitful contacts (Anatoliy Gusakovsky, Director General of LTD Trade House GUSVAR).
- This year eight Czech companies for the first time participated in WOODEX with a collective stand. We all remained satisfied. We anticipated problems in connection with the crisis, but our equipment evoked interest of the Russia buyers as well as the clients from the Baltic States and Belarus. Some machines had been sold from display. We look forward to new contracts and have no doubt that they will be concluded. Czech machinery is not inferior in quality and technical characteristics to the German one but is much more attractive in price, so we are confident of our brilliant challenges in the Russia market (Stepan Jilek, Director of CzechTrade Moscow)
- The exhibition supplies us with new clients, information on the needs of our potential customers and an opportunity to present the equipment to a large choice of specialists (O. Savinkov, Deputy Director General of CJSC Pruma, Yekaterinburg).
- Thank you very much for support of the Russian consumers. This show appeared to be fruitful for us. The universal air heaters which our company develops and produces were a great success. We rapidly find the potential consumers at WOODEX, we get an opportunity to discuss the customers’ position and study the innovation in our production sector (Marina Boyarinova, Senior Manager of LTD Makil Plus).
- We evaluate our participation in the show as successful. The exhibition drew a lot of visitors including those with particular requests and real purchasing power. The customers are getting interested in the issues which a re not directly related to furniture production problems: manufacture of doors, construction details and souvenirs. Our potential customers feel positive and optimistic (Sergey Leonov, Senior Sales Manager VITA group).
- Bacaut has participated in WOODEX/Lestehprodukzia since 2001. Every year this exhibition platform confirms its leadership status in Russia increasing in the number of exhibitors and enlarging the choice of woodworking equipment. What is especially pleasant – the show increases in the number of domestic and foreign exhibitors. Every year our company takes into consideration the consuming demand and introduces to the market new products or updated machines featuring improved technology and functionality. Our general impression of WOODEX/Lestehprodukzia 2009 is positive. A plethora of visitors have an opportunity to study the innovation and technological peculiarities of the woodworking equipment which we produce. Exchange of opinions with our potential customers determines the further steps in engineering development. Our stand was crowded with visitors. We are glad the market is reviving. The woodworkers are searching for new business solutions, change and enlarge the choice of products. They make products more affordable, too. And company Bacaut will certainly assist them manufacturing new types of popular woodworking machines (Alexey Demichev, Bacaut Commercial Director).

Success and vistas
In 2009 WOODEX/Lestehprodukzia has confirmed its reputation of a significant international woodworking forum.
