CONPIROM (Confederatia Patronala din Industria Romaniei) and UGIR 1903 (Uniunea Generala a Industriasilor din Romania) are seeking for help from government authorities for encouraging the consumption of wood in producing termic energy and in the furniture sector. This action is meant to relaunch the industry.
Vasile Turcu, president of CONPIROM and Cezar Corâci, president of UGIR 1903 state that, considering the tough economical times, the state shoulg help the wood processing industry by: using biomass resources in order to produce termic energy in local plants or individual instalations, thus replacing a big amount of fossil fuels which are more expemsive and more pollutant than wood; the other measure involves increasing the quanities of wood and wooden products used in construction and for building termic rehabilitation, including building houses exclusively out of wood.
They feel it is also necessary to create a unique national regulation in regard to selling wood. The two apreciate that this industry is a solution torwards creating new working places in remute rural regions.
