Most companies members of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) are renegociating this year`s contracts, thus creating the opportunity for Malaesian wood exporters to present their last genetation products on the market, announced MTC`s (Malaysian Timber Council) director Khairul Anwar.
According to his statements, Malaesian timber exporters have long wanted to enter the Middle East market, due to the financial crisis which appeared to have affected regions like Europe and the United States.
Fibre boards, veneer and furniture are the most sought after products in the GCC, he declared, adding that Red Meranti and other Malaesian kinds of wood are considered sustainable building materials, in comparisson to the ones provided by North America or Europe.
“Our solid wooden floors, industrial flooring and laminated parquet have become the most popular choises in the construction of hotels, office buildings and private properties, in the GCC”, declared Khairul at the end of a business trip in Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain. The goal of the trip was to create a network between these country`s representants and top Malaesian exporters.
