“Nanotehnology: Research and development”is a surprising development in the forest products industry.
It offers, through innovations, the possiblity of transforming the products of this industry into more performant and lasting
ones, by reducing the costs of production and discovering new markets, in need of strong, recycleble and multifunctional
materials.
Examples of nanotehnoogical successes in this field:
1. ceramic nanoparticles incorporated in wood coatings that offer superior wear resistance and UV protection while
retaining 100% wood color transference through the coat-ing
2. incorporation of carbon nanotubes and electrolyte solution in paper, resulting in thin flexible conductive film used
for energy storage.
The third annual edition of the International Conference on Nanotechnology for the
Forest Products Industry (initiated in 2006) will present:
- the showcasing of new equipment, of new services for the wood industry and its communities
- the meeting of specialists and innovators from the same producing segment and encouraging a collaboration of the two
- the development of relationships between the scientific communities in the forest products industry
- gaining information about the latest practices in this field and the latest interests in nanotehnology
with more than 150 participants, both national and international, academicists and representats of national laboratories, this
gathering is tle largest of it’s kind which brings together professional manufacturers and decisionmakers. |
