The European Commity has announced that new constructions that will be build in the European Union after December 31, 2020, as well as the ones that will be revonated must obey strict regulations regarding energetic eficiency.
Renewable energies will replace the classic heating systems.
According to a recent agreement aproved by the European Parliament’s representatnts and member states, all new constructions will have to comply to these energetic rules starting with the year 2021. public buildings will have to comply with these regulations two yeard earlier, meaning by the end of 2018, and old buildings will have to be renovated in accordance to this new legislation.
Currently, 40% of the energy consumed in the EU comes from the construction sector, which generated 36% of the CO2 emissions. Building certificates will contain reccomandations meant to improve a house’s energetic efficiency.
According to a house’s material and tehniques, certain buildings will have to consume 5l of fuel/m²/year at best. Curren buildings consume 25 l/m². The EU reccomends using energy provided by renewable sources, and each member state will have to decide in accordance with its needs and conditions what constructing an energy - efficient house means.
